The gaping, awkward silence between a joke and the horrible realisation that it wasn't funny.

New Yawk.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed (lol jk, you couldn’t escape it) that Abbi and I went to New York recently. It was pretty fucking fab. Here are some photos of it.

leaving.

this was what we saw when we walked around the corner from our hotel main entrance.

perfect positioning. if you’d like to stay at a great hotel in NYC and don’t mind the rooms being just a little bit wank, here’s a link.

i don’t know who they are, but i love them.

me and tiffany.

when i knew we were going to NYC, i knew i wanted to buy myself this necklace, and that i wanted to buy a tiffany necklace for my mum. i was broke for the rest of the trip, but i’m so glad i did <3

statue of liberty.

new york by night.

taken from the top of the empire state building, which we went up after consuming far too many cocktails, and while wearing heels. oops.

we went to the museum of modern art.

i loved a lot of it, especially the picasso collection they have – which i found unexpected, because i find it hard to give a fuck about seemingly nonsensical abstract art. there were a few pieces that were credited to “y.o” and i didn’t know who that was until the lovely amanda suggested it was yoko ono. a small square of paper stuck to the floor that just said “i love you!” and a glass box full of hastily scrawled wishes that made my heart swell.

this photo was taken inside a dark room with just a projector flickering images of colours onto a wall. so simple, so silly on the surface, but the longer i sat there the more i felt captivated by it.

a girly trip to new york wouldn’t be the same without a verbally molested barman and a $200 drinks bill. oops.

and then almost as soon as we had arrived, we had to leave.

bye bye, americaland!
